Whether for engagement or simply identifying targets at long range, a variable magnification optic can be a serious force multiplier in outdoor environments. The Delta Armory 3-9x50EG Illuminated Rifle Scope with Mounts offers 3-9 x adjustable zoom, red or green reticle illumination options and an extremely wide field of view thanks to its 50mm objective lens. 

The set includes a pair of 20mm Picatinny scope rings for 25mm/1-inch monotubes, meaning you have everything you need to mount the 3-9x50EG scope on a 20mm Picatinny rail straight out of the box. Also included in the box is a CR2032 button cell to power the illumination function, a set of clear lens protector covers and a cleaning cloth. 

The button cell is installed inside the illumination dial on the top of the "eyebell" at the rear, requiring a flat tool to unscrew the top cap. With your battery installed, you can turn the dial to select your reticle illumination colour and brightness level or leave it turned off to save power. The reticle itself is the "Mildot" type, offering a fine crosshair with dots along each axis. The dots are designed for on-the-fly windage and range compensation and the mildot reticle is widely regarded as the best combination of functionality and simplicity. 

Magnification adjustments can be applied via the radial dial at the front of the eyebell, offering continuous adjustment between 3x zoom and 9x. We recommend sticking to 3x for engagement so you can keep an eye on where your shot lands and use higher magnification for spotting and target identification. Having a bit more zoom is very handy for long-range platforms, allowing you to quickly verify that the target is in fact on the enemy team and even guide your teammates in using a radio, just like real snipers. 

At the very rear of the eyebell, surrounding what is known as the ocular lens, we have the fast focus dial. This dial allows you to quickly adjust the clarity of either the target or the crosshair for different ranges, ensuring you get a clear view, whether you're shooting at 10 meters or 50. Fast focus dials are often omitted from scopes in this price range; nice one Delta Armory for giving us the functions we need!

The windage and elevation adjustment turrets are in the centre of the nitrogen-purged monotube, taking the form of capped turrets with toolless adjusters beneath. To access the adjusters, simply unscrew the cap and there you go! The adjusters can be turned by hand but also include a slot in the design for an adjustment tool if you prefer. With your adjustment complete, replace the caps to keep dust and debris out.
