- URX-2 Style rail system
- Alloy/high-density polymer construction
- Excellent starter AEG for outdoors
If you are keeping your eye out for an M4 platform AEG which combines low weight with a long barrel for superb outdoors performance you can put it back in again, you have found a great option! The CM.612 from CYMA sports the usual rock solid internals from the CM.6xx M4 series but with a 16 inch outer barrel and the gorgeous KAC style URX-2 quad rail system to give it a dynamic and high speed look. The CM.612 would be an asset in an outdoors skirmish thanks to its long 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, offering accuracy and range which is unattainable for shorter setups. If you do the majority of your Airsoft *beep* whipping in the woods, this AEG would suit you well.

Description
The CM.612 is a rock-solid M4 AEG rifle aimed at beginners and those looking for a long-range solution with low weight and a dynamic look. The AEG is constructed with a high-density polymer upper and lower receiver, and an alloy outer barrel and buffer tube to add strength only where needed. The CM.612 prioritises skirmish functionality and is a great option for those with full metal AEGs who are looking for a lightweight backup rifle for when their arms are burning near the end of a skirmish day.
The CM.612 is equipped with a 16-inch alloy outer barrel with 14mm CCW male threading at its tip. This means if you grow weary of the birdcage flash hider which comes with the rifle you can change it out for an alternative flash hider, tracer unit or suppressor should you require it.
The 16-inch barrel is slightly longer than the standard M4A1 14.5-inch barrel, and has a thinner profile to keep the weight low and match the real rifle the CM.612 is based on; the KAC SR15. This means the inner barrel of the CM.612 is longer than the average, at 430mm, and it's 6.03mm bore will provide an improvement in range, accuracy and muzzle velocity over the usual 6.08mm barrels found in Airsoft AEGs.
Moving rearwards we come to the low profile gas block, which is a thoughtful inclusion for realism by CYMA, and though it does nothing in Airsoft terms the rifle just wouldn't look right without it. Immediately following the dummy gas block we come to the URX2 style handguard, which provides a long 20mm Picatinny rail at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, with the top rail interfacing seamlessly with the receiver rail to allow for long optical sights such as rifle scopes to be mounted if you were taking your CM.612 build in a DMR direction.
The URX2 is one of the best looking quad rail systems out there in our opinion and entered the real steel market at a time shortly before the advent of negative space attachment systems such as M-LOK and KeyMod. This means this quad rail has the slim and dynamic feel of a modern rail system but with nothing else to buy to add accessories. This rail system offers 20mm rails built-in at all points of the clock, as well as an integrated flip-up front sight which is well concealed at the front of the rail system.
This quad rail is constructed from high-density polymer, offering lower weight than aluminium equivalents and providing improved scratch resistance. There is nothing quite as painful as dropping your full metal rifle and seeing the ugly scratches in alloy and aluminium parts; with the CM.612 any damage will be considerably less visible, and a minor scratch will not draw the eye and ruin the good looks of the rifle!
Moving rearward we reach the receiver, which is a familiar M4/AR15 layout and is constructed from high density polymer with a matt black finish. The fire selector is located on the left side of the AEG, and sits directly above the pistol grip to provide fast and easy access. The fire selector has a 90-degree throw between modes, making it quick to operate but not too easy to accidentally knock it and end up in the wrong fire mode. Each fire mode is indicated with recessed markings reading SAFE-SEMI-AUTO.
At the centre of the left side of the receiver, we can find a dummy bolt release catch which doesn't have a function in an Airsoft AEG but is included to keep the externals looking realistic, and is a separate part to avoid the tell-tale signs that this is an Airsoft gun and not the real deal. Over on the right side of the receiver, we can see what is known as the forward assist button, located on the upper receiver behind the mock shell deflector. This button also has no function but serves to force the real M4/AR15 bolt carrier into battery if it fails to close due to dirt ingress. The button can be pressed and is a separate part, evidencing CYMA's attention to detail and emphasis on realism.
The magazine release is found on the magazine well on the right side of the AEG and is ideally positioned to be pressed with the trigger finger from a firing grip for right-handed users. Left-handed users can use their support hand thumb to press the release, and this can be done quite fast with a little practice. The surface of the mag release is textured to provide the necessary gripping qualities and is protected from accidental presses by the "magwell fence", a raised protrusion in the receiver which stops the mag release from catching on your gear as you move.
The adjustable HOP-up unit is located inside the mock ejection port of the CM.612, over on the right side of the upper receiver. This device allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and tune the CM.612 for your ammo weight of choice, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. The rotary style HOP-up adjuster can be accessed by holding the charging handle back, after which the dust cover will spring open and the mock bolt plate will retract. Once your adjustment is complete you can release the charging handle and the mock bolt plate will move forward and protect the HOP-up adjuster from damage and dirt ingress.
The grip of the CM.612 is a "Tango Down" style ergonomic pistol grip with checkering on either side for extra grip, ensuring the rifle doesn't slip out of your hands during an energetic sprint in wet conditions. This grip was the grip of choice for 416 platforms used by special forces back in the day, thanks to its very comfortable design and reprofiled front strap intended to reduce "hot points" which can irritate the hands over long durations. This grip is a comfortable size for most hand types and is effective with or without gloves.
The trigger guard is an enlarged KAC style guard with extra room inside for use with thick gloves and index points moulded in to provide a comfortable place to rest your trigger finger between shots. This trigger guard is a great design and works well with the other aesthetic aspects of the rifle, but can be swapped for aftermarket M4/AR15 AEG trigger guards if you prefer a different look.
At the rear of the receiver, we can find an ambidextrous sling plate, allowing any hook style sling to be attached on either side of the AEG, allowing for both left and right-handed use. This sling plate can be used alone with a single-point sling, or together with a 20mm Picatinny front sling point (available separately) if you prefer the comfort of a two or three-point sling.
Following the receiver, we reach the AR buffer tube, which is a common part for the vast majority of M4/AR15 AEGs on the market. This buffer tube is constructed from alloy and provides 6 positions of adjustment, enough to suit any body type or loadout. The buffer tube system allows you to swap your stock out for any aftermarket M4/AR15 stock simply and quickly, so if you get tired of the looks of the CM.612 in the future it is a simple job to change it up.
The stock provided on the CM.612 is a "VLTR Club-foot" style carbine style stock, which is a variation on the crane style carbine stock with a more modern look, matching the CM.612's custom style. This stock provides a comfortable angled cheek weld and a low profile adjustment lever which minimises snags whilst still facilitating fast adjustments when needed. The stock includes a built-in sling slot for a traditional rifle sling, and a QD sling socket on either side if you prefer a modern quick-release sling setup.
The stock can be adjusted by holding the adjustment lever down and pulling the stock out to the desired length. The adjustment lever is located on the bottom of the stock and has texture on its surface for effective wet weather use, and the butt plate is rubberised to allow for effective use with bulky tactical gear such as a plate carrier or body armour vest.
The battery compartment of the CM.612 is located within the "Club-foot" stock or inside the buffer tube itself, depending on your choice of battery configuration. The battery compartment can be accessed by lifting the stock adjustment lever, pulling it out as far as it will go, and then sliding the stock off the buffer tube to the rear. This will allow you to fit a buffer tube style stick battery, and there is room inside for up to a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery.
Alternatively, you can remove the butt plate by squeezing the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off, remove the battery plug, and make use of the stocks built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane style battery. For the CM.612, we recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo stick battery or a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo crane/nunchuck battery but you can also make use of a 9.6V 1600mAh NiMH for extra capacity, though this will only fit in the stock battery compartment and will not fit in the buffer tube.

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
