Airsoft Barrel Threading Guide - How do I mount a Tracer Suppressor?

Airsoft Barrel Threading Guide - How do I mount a Tracer Suppressor?

How do I mount an Airsoft Tracer on my gun?

A simple question, but not a simple answer, as we are sure many of you have found out! The barrel threads found on most Airsoft guns will enable you to add your threaded accessories in most cases, but finding the right adapter can be a chore in itself. This guide should give you a clear idea of which thread adapter you will need, if any, to mount the most common types of tracer unit and suppressor which use 14mm CCW female threads on your Airsoft AEG or GBB pistol.

14mm CCW Male Threading - Most Airsoft AEGs and GBBRs, Action Army AAP-01 GBB

As Professor Farnsworth would say, "Good news, everyone!" If you have 14mm CCW male threading on the barrel of your Airsoft gun, you are ready to mount the vast majority of Airsoft f tracer units and suppressors on the market. We will always advise you to double-check the product description to make sure you are purchasing the correct threading, but in 99% of cases, you will be good to go with 14mm CCW male threading.

14mm CW Male Threading - G&P AEGs, Ares AEGs, Specna SA-Gxx series AR36 AEG, UMAREX H&K G36C Sportline

Clockwise threading - the bane of the Airsoft skirmisher with an appetite for alternative muzzle devices. If you own an AEG or GBBR made by G&P, an AR36 AEG made by S&T, Ares or Specna Arms, or the impressive new Umarex H&K G36C Sportline you have your barrel threads backwards, and will need an adapter! Fortunately these aren't too hard to find, and simply thread onto your 14mm CW threads to provide 14mm CCW threads, ready for a tracer or suppressor. Follow this link to find the adapter you will need!

11mm CW Female Threading - WE GBB Pistols, CowCow and Airsoft Masterpiece barrels

If you have a WE GBB pistol, or you have added a CowCow or Airsoft Masterpiece outer barrel to your sidearm, you will in most cases have 11mm CW female threading at the tip of your outer barrel. You have a few options as far as adapters go, from the plain and simple NUPROL thread adapter to the more stylish CowCow thread adapter, available in various colours including the head-turning "heat gradation" effect

12mm CW Male Threading  - UMAREX H&K MP7 A1 GBB and AEG

If you are rocking the Umarex MP7, either in AEG or GBB form, you must be dying to add a suppressor! MP7s and suppressors are a match made in heaven, and whether you want tracer functionality or just the look, you better believe you can do it despite the MP7's unconventional threading, and you will find the adapter you need right here

12mm CW Female Threading -  Raven and VORSK GBB Pistols

If your pistol has 12mm CW female threads, such as those found on Army Armament, Raven and VORSK GBB pistols you will need a 12mm CW Female to 14mm CCW male thread adapter if a tracer or suppressor is one of your requirements.

12mm CCW Female Threading - Army Armament and Novritsch GBB Pistols

If you're running an Army Armament sidearm or a game-changing Novritsch GBB pistol, you'll need a 12mm CCW Female to 14mm CCW male thread adapter if you want to go sneaky with a suppressor or really light the enemy up with a tracer!

16mm CW Male Threading - Tokyo Marui and ASG MK23 NBB Pistols

Wielding a MK23 without a suppressor should be illegal - thank goodness both TM and ASG include a suppressor in the box! If you want to change up the looks of your big boy sniper's handgun or add a tracer for low light and CQB use, then you will need a replacement outer barrel, such as the LPE example

18mm CCW Male Threading - ASG CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 AEG

We all love a Scorpion EVO, except if it's on the enemy team that is! The ASG CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 includes 18mm CCW male threading at the tip of its outer barrel, and as such requires the following adapter to mount a tracer unit or suppressor.

There you have it! Now you should know what you need to add a tracer or suppressor to your Airsoft gun! Some platforms weren't covered in this article, either because they do not have barrel threads or they have their own unique thread type.

If you are ever in doubt as to whether a tracer or suppressor will fit your gun, check out the specification tab on the product description page where you should find the thread type. If you are still confused, feel free to fire us off an email at websales@patrolbase.co.uk and we will answer as best as we can!
