Whether you are imitating a US Navy SEAL Sniper or you simply appreciate a supersized 7.62x51mm style AEG which is ready for both DMR duty and assault rifle capabilities straight out of the box, the A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG should suit you well. This AEG is styled after the real steel SR-25 (Stoner Rifle-25) that was first issued to Navy SEAL snipers who assisted operations in Somalia in 1993.

This AEG looks clean and surgical and you best believe it shoots like it too! The A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG is sporting a version 2 long gearbox (aka V2.5) complete with steel gears running on 8mm ball-bearing bushings. This, paired with the extremely long barrel that this rifle boasts, results in some sublime accuracy potential straight out of the box. If you're looking for a brilliant platform that is adaptable for both assault rifle and DMR builds, then look no further, the A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG might be just what you need!

Full description

Description

The A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG is styled after the real steel SR-25 (Stoner Rifle-25) which was a designated marksman rifle and semi-automatic sniper rifle designed by Eugene Stoner in the early 1990's and was manufactured by Knight's Armament Company. The United States Special Operations Command took an interest in the SR-25, particularly its high magazine capacity and faster engagement time compared to bolt-action rifles. After some modifications, SOCOM (United States Special Operations Command) and the US Navy adopted the SR-25 as the Mk 11 MOD 0 in May 2000.

This rifle wasn't just used by the US military, it has also been seen in the hands of special forces around the world such as in Australia, Poland and Israel. This means you don't just have to be an American to style this A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG, it would equally complement an Australian Police tactical, Polish GROM or Israeli special forces loadout!

This SR25/Mk11 is multifunctional and can function as both a DMR and an assault rifle, it has a high FPS but also comes with a full auto option on the fire selector. This rifle already shoots stellar but if you seek even more performance the HOP-up unit, bucking, nub and barrel are all Tokyo Marui AEG spec, meaning aftermarket parts can be sourced and purchased easily. The steel gearset is also TM spec and can also be tuned for more torque and speed.

Starting at the front we can find a lengthy, heavy profile outer barrel protruding from the handguard. Unfortunately, this barrel is not threaded so no aftermarket threaded barrel attachments can be installed. However, provided in the box there is a suppressor that mounts onto the outer barrel via a QD mechanism. The suppressor gives the perfect special ops or covert scout look. The outer barrel of this premium powerful platform is a whopping 20 inches in length, which houses a 510mm inner barrel with a 6.03mm bore, paired with the version 2 long gearbox, this results in some amazing accuracy and range potential straight out of the box.

Following the barrel rearwards, we come to the rifle's gas block and realistic D.I gas tube that runs back to the receiver, this replicates the Mk11 MOD 0 perfectly. The gas block is constructed from a strong alloy and features small sections of Picatinny rail on the top and bottom, perfect for mounting a bipod stand and a laser. This is a nice feature for a DMR build as it gives you plenty of space to mount a gargantuan scope and have all the spare room for any other necessary attachments.

Immediately after the gas block, we come to the rifle's freefloat handguard, it is a near-perfect replica of the real steel SR-25. This handguard is styled after the KAC RIS used on the real steel Mk11 MOD 0 rifle, it is free-floating meaning the handguard won't move at all as it is installed securely to the barrel nut and it doesn't touch the barrel at all. The handguard is equipped with 20mm Picatinny rails that are CNC machined at the 3,6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions. Included with this A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG there is a Vertical foregrip and RIS rail covers that are ready to mount onto the railed handguard. There is a built-in flip-up front sight at the front. The sight can be engaged using your finger to lift them but they can also be left down to not disrupt your preferred sights mounted on top. The handguard is nice and long, at 12'' it matches the barrel length well to imply a powerful sniper-style platform, letting everyone know to keep their distance if they know what's good for them, although, the distance still won't save them!

The receiver follows the established M4/AR-15 layout, this is good news for those habituated with M4s and allows for an easy transition to this slightly larger rifle. Running along the top of the receiver we are treated to an additional section of Picatinny rail. Behind this rail, we find the second part of the aperture iron sights, which can also be flipped up by hand. The windage is adjustable by twisting the dial located on the right side, this will move the iron sight from left to right.

The fire selector is located just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire; Safe, semi-automatic and full automatic, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The selector looks like it should stop at semi-auto due to the raised protrusion built into the receiver on the left side, just like the real M110 and SR-25 rifles, however, the fire selector seamlessly travels over this ridge to allow for the full automatic capabilities. The 90-degree throw means the selector is quick to actuate but minimises the risk of accidentally misaligning it at an inopportune moment.

The magazine release is located on the right side, on the magazine well, and is a push-button design, just like an M4. The magazines of the SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 are much larger than an M4, being patterned after real steel NATO 7.62x51mm mags, so while the layout is very familiar, standard M4 mags are, unfortunately, not compatible. The pistol grip, however, is M4 compatible! This means you can swap it out for your preferred grip if you don't like the pre-installed grip. This existing grip is the "A2" style finger-ridged grip and has an ergonomic design with a bump near the top of the grip, this sits between your middle and ring finger and it provides extra comfort whilst holding the A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG.

The trigger guard is of the standard M4/M16 flat type and is compatible with aftermarket alternatives, though currently, it is a perfect match to the real steel SR25. The trigger is a standard military-spec AR-15 trigger that wraps comfortably around the finger. It offers a snappy trigger return that is perfect for a fast succession of semi-automatic shots. Above the magazine well on the receiver, there is a mock bolt catch that has no function on this platform but it keeps it true to the real steel SR25 and Mk11 MOD 0.

The extended charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and when the mock bolt carrier is retracted, it pops open the dust cover and allows access to the rotary HOP-up unit through the ejection port on the right side. With the HOP-up adjuster exposed, you can fine-tune your A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG for different BB weights to maximise your range and achieve the flattest possible trajectory. The rotary HOP-up design is the best option for M4/AR-15 style AEG platforms, offering improved setting retention and finer increments of adjustment when compared to the older "gear" HOP-up design.

At the rear of the SR25/Mk11, there is a fixed M16A2 stock. It has a polymer butt plate with an aggressive textured design that will grip onto your apparel and keep this AEG in the sweet spot for you to maximise your accuracy potential and skirmish domination skills! On the bottom of the stock is a fixed ambidextrous sling point, this is perfect for attaching a sling to assist the carrying of this hefty platform around during your campaigns.

The battery compartment is located within the stock and can be accessed via a hatch in the centre of the butt plate for battery installation. To do this, simply press down on the lever mechanism on the top and then the hatch will open and reveal a Deans battery connector inside. For this AEG we recommend a 7.4V 1500mAh LiPo Block Battery as there is absolutely loads of space inside this beefed-up stock.

Internally, this A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG means serious business! Inside there is a Version 2 long (sometimes known as version 2.5) gearbox with Tokyo Marui compatible steel gears, a long cylinder and piston, offering greater air volume than a standard V2 which lends itself well to a DMR setup if that's the way you are leaning with this pristine platform. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore, ensuring more accuracy and FPS than a standard bore would. It has a full set of steel gears and 8mm ball-bearing bushings. The piston and cylinder are double-sealed with o-rings to ensure minimum loss of air volume, paired with the high torque neodymium motor, which results in a truly higher-calibre experience when firing this A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG.

Whether your loadout is that of a US Army, Polish or Australian sniper or you have been eyeing up a great DMR/Assault rifle hybrid base platform which fits both roles readily, the A&K SR25/Mk11 MOD 0 AEG would be the perfect platform for you. With flawless build quality, great internals and the option of converting to a DMR, all this bad boy needs is a monstrous optic and a bipod to complete the look!
