WELL PRO WE06 PPK-20 Compact SMG AEG w/ EShooter MOSFET; Full Metal

If you've been eyeing up the WE06 PPK-20 Compact but you're a realism focussed skirmisher, the WELL PRO WE06 PPK-20 Compact SMG AEG w/ Eshooter MOSFET; Full Metal is the one for you. Based on the original WELL PRO PPK-20, this, the full metal version is rocking a steel receiver, top cover and trunnion block, giving it the appropriate weight and heft a realistic replica deserves. 

Based on the most recent PP-19-01 Vityaz prototype known as the PPK-20 Compact, this platform was designed to provide helicopter pilots, tank crews and other rear-of-line troops with a short and light PDW while doing double duty as a close-quarters primary for Spetsnaz units.

The previous version of the WE06 tipped the scales at just under 2 kg. The full metal variant weighs approximately 2.7 kg, giving it a more realistic feel without being overburdening and slowing you down when taking tight corners in CQB. The added strength and realistic finish of steel parts makes this all the sweeter, ideal for modern Russian milsim loadouts. 

Inside, you will find a 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel, a unique gear adjustable HOP-up unit, a polymer piston with a full rack of steel teeth and a 20K RPM high-speed motor. A new addition to the full metal variant is its EShooter MOSFET, providing programmable fire controls and adjustable pre-cocking to the already impressive internal feature set. If you snoozed on the original WE06 because you value realism, you now have no excuses left!

Starting at the front, we can find a birdcage-style PPK-20 flash hider constructed from steel mounted to 14mm CCW male barrel threads. The aggressive, squat look of this flash hider really suits the CQB styling of the PPK-20 Compact but can be replaced with a tracer unit or suppressor should the mission require it. The flash hider is retained via a grub screw, so make sure you remove this before attempting to unscrew the flash hider.

Next up, we reach the handguard which is an M-LOK/20mm Picatinny hybrid design with a combination of M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions and 20mm Picatinny rails at the top and bottom. This means you are ready to mount any 20mm Picatinny vertical or angled foregrip to improve handling and also have plenty of room on each side to add M-LOK rail covers, flashlight mounts or other mission-essential equipment. The handguard is also comfortably shaped with gripping texture on the flanks, meaning if you don't want to add rail covers you will still have plenty of traction when steering the platform between targets.

Between the handguard and receiver, we can take note of the trunnion block, constructed from steel with an authentic appearance matching real Russian anti-corrosion finishes. The trunnion block is the part that links the barrel to the receiver and is often made from cast alloy, even in high-end AK platforms. The steel trunnion block will definitely please the stitch counters searching for the most realistic replica but it also adds a significant amount of strength to help prevent unfortunate skirmish stumbles from snapping your primary in half!

Moving rearwards, we come to the receiver which looks familiar at a glance but is considerably enhanced, and of course, constructed from stamped steel, just like the real thing. The receiver follows the AK shape and rough layout but adds an ambidextrous fire selector positioned just above the pistol grip, bringing this AK-derived platform into line with modern shooting doctrine. On the right side, you will see a steel plate which replaces the original AK fire selector and links to a more modern selector switch via a cam mechanism.

This new selector is present on each side, offering 3 modes of fire; Safe, semi-auto and full auto, all denoted with recessed Cyrillic markings. Unlike your standard AK, the PPK-20 has the standard order of fire modes, meaning a short throw from safe to semi-auto with full auto in the final position. This fire selector setup is a big improvement for those more familiar with modern Western platforms and avoids the usual hard-on-the-hands AK fire selector manipulation. With the Eshooter MOSFET inside, you can also program the fire controls for different fire modes, including burst mode and binary trigger; both great ways to improve your hit probability when shooting moving targets outdoors. 

The improvements don't end here either, the pistol grip installed on the PPK-20 Compact is the latest design used on the most recent variants of the AK-12 assault rifle. The grip is set at a more vertical angle than the standard for improved comfort and reduced wrist fatigue when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and features a built-in enlarged trigger guard for easy access to the trigger when wearing gloves. With stylish linear texture on each side, this grip both suits the ultra-modern aesthetic of the platform and feels fantastic; a considerable step up from the standard AK grip!

Ahead of the grip, we can find the built-in magazine well extension designed for 9mm style PP-19 magazines with the standard centrally positioned AK paddle magazine release. This is one part of the AK which doesn't need changing; the mag release is easy to reach for both left and right-handed shooters, prominent enough to find but low profile enough to avoid snags and functional with the iconic AK "mag flip" emergency reload. As with most AKs, the mag release is constructed from steel, guaranteeing reliable locking in the long term.

The final receiver feature to discuss is its full length 20mm Picatinny rail, allowing red dot sights and scopes to be mounted easily, with no additional parts needed. This is a marked improvement over standard AKs and allows you to make use of modern Western optics as many Spetsnaz operators do in the modern era. The rail is also weight-reduced along the centreline and thanks to its AK-12 style top cover retention, provides a reliable zero for any optics you have mounted. As with the receiver, the top cover is also constructed from stamped steel, completing this super realistic PPK-20 build.

At the rear of the receiver rail, we can find the rear iron sight which is an aperture-style sight mounted on an adjustable tangent-style base. The sight can be adjusted for elevation by rotating the adjustment dial beneath the aperture, and the front sight is also adjustable using an AK sight adjustment tool. If you need all the rail space for your optics, you can remove the rear sight easily as it mounts to the receiver rail itself.

The battery compartment of the PPK-20 Compact is located beneath the receiver top cover and can be accessed via the AK-12-like disassembly lever. The lever is positioned on the right side of the rear of the handguard, on the trunnion block, and needs to be rotated counterclockwise by 90 degrees, after which it can be pulled out but will remain captive in the handguard. With the lever in this position, the top cover will come free, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo battery in AK stick configuration for the best fit and solid performance. 

Bringing up the rear, we are treated to one of the latest advanced Russian stock designs featured on the AM-17 Assault rifle. The stock is constructed from high density polymer with a grippy serrated rubber butt plate and can be adjusted into 6 different lengths of pull so you can adjust it to suit your shooting stance, body type and loadout. Adjusting the stock is as simple as pushing the textured tab in the toe of the stock through from the left and sliding the stock out into your chosen position.

As one might expect with an AK-derived design, the stock can also be folded to the side for storage, transportation and close-quarters use. To fold the stock, simply press the prominent textured button on the top of the stock where it meets the receiver and the stock can folded to the right side of the SMG where it will lock in place. Deploying the stock from the folded position is even simpler; grab it, pull it away and slap it into place! The stock adjustment of the AM-17 stock is leaps and bounds ahead of the usual AK steel skeleton folding stock when it comes to ergonomics, tying in nicely with the overall cutting-edge design of the PPK-20 Compact.

Inside the unique version 3 derived gearbox shell you will find a quick change spring system, steel 18:1 ratio gearset running on 8mm slide bearings, a type 2 cylinder and a polymer piston with a full rack of steel teeth. This may not be the Advanced Version with its 1:9 ratio DSG gears, but it still has a very impressive rate of fire thanks to its high-speed motor and electrical efficiency improvements provided by the EShooter MOSFET. Also present inside is a 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel, giving you the edge when it comes to accuracy potential and ensuring this little beast makes the most of its compact size when duking it out in a woodland setting. 

The pre-installed EShooter MOSFET improves trigger response and rate of fire by improving electrical efficiency and also protects the circuitry from power surges and trigger contact corrosion. For a platform this price, we are absolutely flabbergasted with the generosity of WELL PRO, not content with providing a uniquely styled SMG, even the Standard Version is pre-upgraded! 

Whether it is your first AEG or a lightweight alternative to your full-length, full-metal primary, the WELL PRO WE06 PPK-20 Compact Standard Version is one to watch.
