Description
Introducing the SA-S02 High Power Version from Specna Arms, a pre-upgraded variant of the previously released SA-S02. The old version was shooting around 420 FPS, which is plenty but still leaves room for improvement. This new version sports a higher power spring, and comes out of the box shooting approximately between 460 and 480 FPS, giving it extra range over the original version.
The SA-S02 comes packaged as two separate assemblies; the stock/chassis, and the barrel/receiver. These parts can be put together easily, and simply require the included screws to be installed behind the trigger guard, in the centre of the stock, and in front of the magazine well with the action dropped into the stock.
The outer barrel assembly, receiver and bolt are all constructed from alloy, granting this rifle the honour of being crowned "full metal", as all of the real rifle's metallic external components are also metal on the SA-S02. The barrel is a fluted design, adding some visual interest to the otherwise long and plain outer barrel and matching the real M40A3 and other precision rifles in every detail. Real sniper rifles use fluted barrels to reduce weight whilst keeping a thick barrel profile for heat resistance, as well as to help disperse built-up heat by increasing the barrel's surface area.
As we move back down the barrel we come to the receiver, which is equipped with an extended and raised 20mm Picatinny rail, allowing longer and overall larger optical sights to be mounted without interfering with the bolt handle's movement. The left side of the receiver features a laser engraved Specna Arms logo, evidencing Specna's pride in their product. At the rear of the receiver, we can find the bolt handle, which is a full-size M700 style handle which is appropriate for the M40A3 rifle as it is used by the USMC. This handle has texture on both its upper and lower surface to aid in cocking the rifle, and is nice and large to provide plenty to grab onto. On the right side of the bolt handle, we can find the safety catch of the SA-S02 which can be pulled to the rear to lock the trigger or pushed forwards to unlock it. The safety catch features texture on its upper surface and is ideally positioned just beneath the shooter's thumb for fast access with minimal movement giving your position away.
The stock is constructed from Specna's N-Core reinforced polymer, giving it the textured feel of fibre reinforced polymer and an overall rigid and high quality feel. Either side of the stock features textured panels, ideally positioned for the support hand and complete with texture for optimum grip. Just in front of the grip panels, we can take note of the QD sling sockets present on either side, allowing this M40A3 to be set up with a quick detachable sling for a flexible and reliable sling solution that can be added and removed in seconds. The front of the stock features a 20mm Picatinny rail intended to provide a place for the included bipod to be mounted, and just ahead of the rail we can find a Harris bipod lug, offering an alternative mounting solution for those who prefer a more direct mount rather than the easily removed Picatinny solution.
The slider HOP-up adjuster for the SA-S02 is conveniently positioned on the left side of the stock, just above the grip panel, and can be moved rearwards to add additional HOP-up effect, and tuned to provide a flat trajectory with your chosen BB weight. For this rifle, with its high muzzle velocity, we recommend using 0.32g BBs and above to take advantage of the additional range heavy BBs can provide. The HOP-up unit itself is a proprietary design, but it is compatible with VSR-10 style tight bore inner barrels and HOP-up buckings, should you seek upgrades in the future.
Moving rearwards we come to the magazine well, which can be found on the underside of the stock. This magazine well takes proprietary magazines designed specifically for the SA-S02, 3 of which are included in the box. Each magazine holds approximately 20 rounds, meaning you will have plenty of opportunities to get kills with just what is included. The magazine release is integrated into the magazines themselves, at the bottom rear of the magazine body, and requires pushing forward to remove the magazine. Behind the actual magazine well, we can find the dummy magazine well, which has been added by Specna Arms as a nod to realism and to faithfully replicate the real M40A3 sniper rifle. This magazine well doesn't function, and the mock magazine cannot be removed but is cast in alloy and constructed as separate parts, elevating the realism of the SA-S02 and asserting its lead over the BAR/VSR-10 sniper rifle system on the realism front with its lack of a dummy magazine well.
Behind the mock magazine well we come to the trigger and trigger guard, both of which are constructed from alloy with a matt black finish applied. The trigger is a typical design for a sniper rifle, with a curved front face and a wide trigger body to encourage correct finger positioning and allow you to more effectively "feel" the trigger. The trigger guard follows the standard format for an M40 rifle and is shaped to allow use with or without gloves.
Arriving at the rear of the chassis we come to the semi-pistol grip setup, which is a hallmark of more modern sniper rifle designs. The semi-pistol grip is shaped to provide the best compromise between the comfort and prone functionality of a traditional rifle grip and the speed of manoeuvring provided by a pistol grip. This grip features the same gripping texture on its surface as the grip panels on either side of the stock, providing exceptional grip regardless of the weather and tying the whole rifle together as a complete piece.
The stock itself features an adjustable cheek rest and spacers to adjust the length of pull, allowing you to set the SA-S02 up in the most comfortable way for your body type and loadout. The cheek rest can be raised and lowered on the fly, without the need for tools, simply by unscrewing the knurled locking nuts on either side. With these screws loosened, you can put the cheek rest wherever it is most comfortable, and get the best possible alignment between your eye and your optical sight. Tightening the screws back down will secure the cheek rest in place and provide a solid and comfortable cheek weld. The stock spacers come pre-installed, but can be removed and reconfigured by unscrewing the two Allen bolts in the butt pad. The butt pad itself is constructed from ultra-grippy rubber, ensuring the stock will not slip out of your shoulder at a critical moment. The toe of the stock also features a QD sling socket on either side which can be paired with the sockets at the front to allow a QD sling set up to be used.
So, if you want to try your hand at sniping, the SA-S02 comes will everything you need to give the most challenging but rewarding aspect of our sport a go! And if you sink your teeth in and love it, the SA-S02 is VSR-10 compatible on the inside, other than its magazines, HOP-up unit and cylinder head, meaning you have access to all of the wonderful tight bore inner barrels, HOP-up buckings, trigger groups and pistons available to bring out the full potential of this awesome platform.

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
