Mixing the old with the new, Nighthawk Custom proudly presents the War Hawk, a modern take on an old classic with all the class one could hope for. Full aluminium slide and frame with polymer side panels that boast absolute class on all fronts, this pistol is for 1911 lovers that appreciate the finer things in both form and function. One thing to note with the War Hawk is that it has a lot of contemporary upgrades that don't compromise the aesthetic of the original, so you get the best of both worlds, especially when it comes to aesthetics.

What we notice at the very front of this absolute beauty is the imitation fluting, immediately giving the War Hawk a hint of realism, which is always appreciated in quality Airsoft pistol replicas. One of the modern upgrades this pistol is treated to are the light-enhancing sights, which really sells this piece on being fit for spec ops style action as the sights are great in low light conditions, having said that, in situations full lighting you'll have an easy time hitting your mark and you'll really see an improvement in your performance in comparison to using regular ironsights.

One of the most striking aspects of this pistol is the slide, which has all the mod-cons one could possibly ask for and even you classic 1911 purists might be converted! Firstly there are angular serrations on the front and the back on either side of the slide, which look fantastic inset into the aluminium slide and make it easier for you to rack the slide back. These serrations are somewhat different to straight grooves found on the classic 1911 as the War Hawk opts for angular serrations on both the front and the back, with the angled nature of the cuts allowing for speedier cocking, providing more friction against your fingers, which could make all the difference. Adding to the beauty and prestige of this pistol are CNC engravings; on the left-hand side, we have Nighthawk Custom and on the right-hand side is the War Hawk in bold text to really sell you on the ultra-modern upgrades of this 1911.

Below the slide, we can see the War Hawk sports a 20mm pistol rail, which is essential these days in those more spec-ops style games, as it allows you to attach your choice of a range of tactical accessories such as a laser or torch. And with roughly 5.5 inches of rail real estate, this old boy can really keep up with the times when held against more contemporary platforms such as a Hi-Capa or Glock.

The pistol gives you control over your shots via the adjustable gear type HOP unit. To access the HOP, simply remove the slide from the frame, which is achieved by first removing the magazine. Then line up the slide leaver with the smallest cutout on the slide (pull back the slide until the inner barrel is just visible. Next press the slide release pinion through from the other side. Once the slide release is removed, the slide can be smoothly pushed forward and off the slide rail. Again, the HOP unit is a gear type, adjusted by turning it either up or down. The addition of a HOP allows you to apply backspin to your, making your BBs spin harder as they leave the barrel, helping them stay in the air for longer.

This model features a classic 1911 trigger in that it is a straight-back trigger, meaning, unlike other pistols it is actuated by moving backwards horizontally, which is for you more rugged players that appreciate a solid and chunky feeling when you take your shots! A straight-back style trigger also gives the 1911 that classic almost old-well charm, which contrasts well with the more modern serrated slide, rail and sights.

Just behind the trigger, we have the textured mag release, which not only has a seriously classy vibe, but is incredibly tactile when activated, while the front and back  texture can be found on the front and back of the grip, in keeping with the modern stylings of the pistol, but make no mistake, combined with the side panels make this pistol incredibly nice to grip. Another modern feature of the War Hawk is in the left side panel, which boasts a thumb indentation for a really ergonomic grip and really helps in bridging the gap between the beavertail safety and the mag release.
