EMG Hudson H9 Gas Blowback Pistol

Hudson exploded onto the firearm scene with their stand at SHOT Show in 2017, where they unveiled their creation, the Hudson H9 pistol. This pistol was set to change the way people saw sidearms, bringing all the best patent-pending features of other pistols and combining them into the ultimate pistol.

The real steel Hudson H9 included proven design elements such as an M1911 straight-pull trigger, a short-recoil operated system, and the heritage S&W 5900 series magazine tube. Some less noticeable new design elements included forward barrel cams in front of the trigger-guard, the sear design marrying the straight pull trigger with a striker-fired system while remaining drop safe, the placement of the recoil spring, and the pairing of an insert chassis with a steel frame. All these features led to the unique design that this pistol boasts.

Starting at the front we have a metallic black alloy outer barrel with an 11mm CW female thread at the tip, allowing tracer units, suppressors and other muzzle devices to be added with a thread adapter. If you want to mount a suppressor or tracer, we recommend looking for as short and lightweight a suppressor as you can find to keep the cyclic rate high and gas efficiency optimal!

At the top of the CNC aluminium slide, we can find our front and rear sights taking the form of the classic front post and rear cut-out. The sights are easy and intuitive to align, ideal for those who prefer simple and familiar but functional sights. The front and rear of the slide feature deep serrations on either side, providing plenty of purchase when racking the pistol from the front or rear while remaining comfortable so you don't tear your hands up if you don't wear gloves. The slide also features Hudson logos, solidifying the authentic real steel look.

Moving to the frame, we can find a 20mm Picatinny pistol rail on the dust cover, allowing pistol lights, lasers and other 20mm Picatinny accessories to be mounted. This looks different from typical pistols, usually, on pistols that look similar to 1911s, the trigger and cut-out sit below the rail. On this pistol, they sit in line with the rail section, which means the steel recoil rod and spring are shorter. This was an intuitive design which directed recoil into your hand so there was less felt recoil and muzzle rise when shooting.

This "low bore axe" design translates into the Airsoft world, it's not as noticeable as the gas blowback does not compare to real steel recoil, but it's nice that this feature still has some function in the world of Airsoft. Moving rearward, we come to another unique feature, the trigger of this pistol has the same two-stage design as a Glock, but has the M1911 straight-pull trigger. However, the two-stage design is upside down, meaning that the top of the trigger needs to be actuated before the actual trigger can be pulled.

Above the rail, you will find the slide disassembly. This is how you remove the slide to access the Hop-Up adjuster. Push the slide rearwards in line with the frame, then push the slide pin through from the right, after that rotate it 90 degrees clockwise. You can then pull it out and then you are free to remove the slide.

With the slide removed, you can now access the H9's adjustable HOP-up unit, which can be used to apply backspin to your BBs, extending their range. The dial can be turned to apply an additional HOP-up effect and can be tuned to your chosen BB weight to extend the effective range of the pistol.

The magazine release can be found on the pistol grip, on the left side, sitting comfortably beneath the shooter's thumb for fast access and a fast reload. The mag release is textured for additional grip, ensuring you never mess up your reloads. The pistol grip is stylish, boasting fine texturing on the flanks for an easy and secure grip. The front and rear have a more positive texturing, ensuring that you will never accidentally drop this unique pistol.

Special Instructions

The EMG Hudson H9 includes a set of manual safety catches in the box. Installing these will require the disassembly of the pistol beyond what is required for normal maintenance. If you choose to install the safety catches it is considered a modification. If a fault arises from incorrect installation, it is not covered by your usual 12-month warranty.
