  • Fluted outer barrel - Sporty!

If you're looking for a sniper rifle with more than its fair share of robust internal components, the Delta Armory M24 R700 Spring Bolt Action Sniper Rifle is a fine choice. Externally based on the real steel M24 sniper rifle hybridized with the R700 sporting rifle, Delta's M24 is designed for mobility, keeping weight to an absolute minimum and trimming off any unnecessary frills which add more weight than their worth.

Inside, we are equipped with a CNC Steel cylinder, CNC aluminium piston, 90-degree sear and CNC steel spring guide, giving you the parts you need to keep the M24 running in the long run and avoiding the usual affordable sniper rifle hurdle of whacking a super strong spring into a platform that isn't ready for it. Though the M24 may use its own unique internal system, the HOP-up rubber is compatible with aftermarket VSR/GBB rubbers so the upgrade fiends can get their fix. If you want to sample sniping but don't want to get in too deep with an expensive primary, the Delta Armory M24 R700 Spring Bolt Action Sniper Rifle is a fantastic option!

Description

If you're in search of an affordable sniper rifle and want it to last a lifetime, the Delta Armory M24 R700 Spring Bolt Action Sniper Rifle is probably your best bet. Fitted with several robust pre-upgraded parts focussed on longevity, Delta's M24 is a simplified and weight reduced alternative to the military style M24 making it ideal for agile snipers who value mobility.

Inside, we are treated to a CNC steel cylinder, CNC aluminium piston, CNC steel spring guide and 90-degree sear, giving you the right parts to handle a lifetime of use with high-strength springs. While the Delta M24 uses its own internal system, the HOP-up rubber is compatible with VSR/GBB type aftermarket alternatives, giving you the chance to squeeze even more performance from it!

The M24 is based on the Remington Model 700 in its "long action" form, and as such, the receiver is much bigger than that of comparable bolt action sniper rifles like the VSR-10 which is based on the "short action" version of the M700. This gives the M24 far more presence in the hands than a VSR-10 and is ideal for those who want a more realistic sniping experience.

The outer barrel of the M24 measures a lengthy 23 inches, giving you a respectable 490mm of inner barrel for increased range and accuracy; exactly what you want from a sniper rifle. The inner barrel is also a 6.03mm tightbore, meaning a slight FPS increase and improved accuracy provided you use high quality BBs.

Following the outer barrel rearwards, we come to the chassis/stock of the rifle which is constructed from tough high density polymer with a smooth yet textured effect to improve handling qualities and provide a luxurious feel. On the bottom of the chassis, we have a Harris-style bipod/sling stud, ready for a Harris-style bipod to be fitted. The Harris lug can also be used to mount a sling point, but as this M24 doesn't include a rear sling point you'll have to get that sorted out before running this rifle with a sling!

Just aft of the Harris lug, we come to the magazine well which is located in a similar position to that of the VSR-10 sniper rifle, though the M24 uses its own internal system. The magazine catch is built into the front of the magazine itself, making it centrally positioned which is ideal for left or right-handed snipers. Compatibility-wise, the Delta Armory M24 accepts Specna Arms M24 magazines but doesn't work with other M24 magazines or VSR-10 magazines.

Next up, we reach the receiver which is constructed from alloy, matching the metal to polymer proportions of the real M24 perfectly. Up top, we have an extended 20mm Picatinny scope rail, ready for your choice of riflescope to be mounted. The rail also skips the usual cutout in the centre, allowing one-piece scope mounts to be fitted on this more conventional alternative to standard sniper rifle rails.

The bolt handle is located on the right side of the rifle and is an extended design with a textured tip for optimal grip. To cock the M24, you will need to lift the bolt, pull it rearward until it locks, push it back forwards and rotate it back into place, just like a real bolt action sniper rifle. The bolt assembly is constructed from alloy and does require some force to cock due to the rather strong spring inside.

The trigger is housed inside the alloy trigger guard assembly and is the standard curved sniper rifle trigger designed to encourage proper finger placement. The trigger pull is nice and short, making it easy to take those accurate long range shots, and the trigger guard is spacious enough to allow all but the thickest gloves to be used.

Behind the trigger guard, we come to what is known as a "Semi-pistol-grip", the traditional gripping location for bolt action rifles. The grip is set at a comfortable angle for shooting both prone and standing, and the textured finish of the stock aids handling qualities so you can keep the rifle firmly in your hands, with or without gloves. The grip of the M24 is wider than comparable VSR-10 grips, making it extra comfortable when shooting from the prone position; the most effective shooting position for snipers.

The stock itself is a fixed stock patterned after that of the real steel Remington R700 sporting rifle, doing away with the M24's usual adjustment mechanism in favour of a more lightweight stock to promote agility. The polymer used for the stock is of superb quality, as we would expect for Delta Armory, and the butt plate is made from grippy rubber so you can keep the M24 under control as you work the bolt.

Inside the Delta Armory M24, we are treated to some respectable pre-upgraded parts to keep this beast running in the long term. These include a CNC steel cylinder, a CNC aluminium piston, a 90-degree sear and a CNC steel spring guide. The internal system is not a VSR-10 clone, but the HOP-up rubber is reportedly compatible with VSR/GBB aftermarket alternatives for those who want to tune the absolute best performance from the M24. These strong CNC machined internals mean this M24 is ready for upgraded springs, but it hits out at a respectable 390 FPS on 0.2g BBs straight out of the box!

If you're seeking a sniper rifle on the cheap, the Delta Armory M24 R700 Spring Bolt Action Sniper Rifle is one of the best options out there. Its build quality is really rather impressive next to similarly priced rifles and its generous compliment of reinforced internals means it will outlast all of its rivals!
