Being an AEG of the Delta Armory ALPHA™ line, the DA-A13 is considerably pre-upgraded straight out of the box, boasting a reinforced gearbox shell, SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack, a quick change ball bearing spring guide and a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit for impressive long-range effectiveness.

Starting at the front, we can find a pre-installed birdcage flash hider concealing 14mm CCW male barrel threads beneath. This means you can add a tracer or suppressor as soon as you are ready, or an alternative muzzle device to customise the looks of the DA-A13. If you want to add a sneaky style, a suppressor would be a fine choice, but for CQB, a compact tracer unit would also suit this beast perfectly!

Moving rearwards, we come to the M-LOK handguard of the DA-A13 which is constructed from aluminium using CNC machining, guaranteeing in-spec attachment slots and rails maintain a flawless form. The handguard is equipped with a short section of 20mm Picatinny rail at the receiver end, offering a lengthened receiver rail so you can mount larger optical sights and red dot sight/magnifier combos with some space to spare. 

The sides and bottom of the handguard are equipped with M-LOK negative space attachment slots, allowing you to mount the latest vertical and angled foregrip designs directly to your handguard make use of 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK if you prefer the more readily available 20mm Picatinny accessories. The front end of the handguard is also aggressively styled with angled weight reduction/cooling vents, mimicking the real steel "Strike" style handguard. The benefit of a modern M-LOK handguard is that in its slick configuration, the handguard is incredibly light and surprisingly ergonomic, meaning you don't need to add rail covers to avoid the cheese grater effect as you might with a 20mm Picatinny quad rail.

The receiver of Delta Armory's DA-A13 is a modernised design, complete with machined in gripping texture on the front of the magazine well, ideal for shooting from unusual positions, with angular surfaces across the receiver it gives the old '60s AR design a 21st-century refresh. The trigger guard is also enlarged and built into the receiver, improving strength considerably and following trends in the latest high-end real steel AR-15 rifles. Being an AEG of Delta Armory's ALPHA™ line, this receiver is constructed from alloy, matching the metal-to-polymer proportions of the real AR-15.

The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire; SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. This makes the selector easy to engage in time of need, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position unintentionally. The magazine release is found on the right side of the magazine well and is designed to be accessible for right-handed users with the tip of their trigger finger.

Pulling back the charging handle will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. This is the latest HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR-15 and provides finer increments of adjustment and holds its setting more effectively when compared to the older gear style HOP-up unit. The charging handle has an extended latch for easier use, allowing those with thick gloves to access the HOP-up unit, though you may need to remove your gloves to turn the adjuster!

The mock bolt catch is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the DA-A13 to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR-15 rifles.

The pistol grip of the DA-A13 boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Based on the real steel "Gunfighter mod.3" grip it has an ergonomic design and each flank of the pistol grip includes fine texturing for perfect wet weather handling. The trigger is known by Delta Armory as the CNC Type A Flat trigger, offering a flat serrated front surface with a short finger ledge, ideal for rapid double taps.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction practically guarantees even with a massive rifle scope, PEQ box and RunCam, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight. Following the sling plate, we come to the AR buffer tube, constructed from alloy and offering 6 adjustment positions for the pre-installed stock, or any other M4/AR-15 AEG stock you choose to mount!

We are treated to the superb Delta Armory battery stock at the rear, one of the best modern Airsoft stocks out there. Some may recognise it from Krytac's Trident range, but this stock was actually designed by Delta and supplied to Krytac, so what you are seeing here is the original! The stock is constructed from high-density polymer throughout, with a steel adjustment pin to eliminate wobble and steel QD sling sockets on either side. The stock is a "club foot" style design with a low profile adjustment lever to reduce the possibility of snagging the stock on your equipment.

Also present on the stock is a sling slot for more traditional rifle sling setups and a raised cheek pad comprised of slightly smoother polymer than the rest of the stock for improved comfort. The butt plate is rubberized and is textured for optimum grip; ensuring that the stock stays firmly in your shoulder when shooting. The Delta Armory logo can be found embossed on the left side in bold lettering, allowing you to show off your brand allegiance!

The buffer tube also serves as the battery compartment for the DA-A13. Accessing the battery compartment is super simple compared to other stocks; simply press the two textured tabs at the toe of the stock and the butt plate will pop off, revealing the battery compartment and the mini-Tamiya battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1200mAh LiPoBattery in crane/nunchuck configuration for an easy fit but there is potentially room for more, make sure you don't squash your LiPo cells though!

Inside the DA-A13, we are treated to some great performance perks! The version 2 gearbox shell is reinforced, allowing it to be upgraded for higher power springs if you want to take your platform in a DMR direction. The spring guide is a quick change example, allowing for quick and easy power tuning without opening the gearbox shell and has ball bearings in its base to reduce the rotational force applied to the gearbox shell for a longer lifespan. 

Inside the gearbox, we have a set of 18:1 ratio steel gears mounted on 8mm ball bearing bushings, an SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack and an SHS delayer chip and tappet plate to add reinforcement in the key places that need it. The ball-bearing bushings allow the gears to spin more freely with a reduced gearbox report and a much smoother sound. To provide the accuracy needed to get the job done at long range, the DA-A13 ALPHA™ is rocking a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel paired with a rotary HOP-up unit, offering higher FPS with the same spring and finer HOP-up adjustment increments.
