  • Real wood stock
  • Accurate MP41 replica
  • steel upper receiver - Realistic build

If you like your German wartime submachine guns and want something lesser seen, the AGM MP41 Submachine Gun AEG is perfect for you! A more luxurious version of one of the early Twentieth Century's most iconic and infamous machine pistols, the MP41 boasts a real wood stock instead of the rickety metal bars of its earlier iteration. This hybrid SMG combines the upper receiver of the MP40 with the trigger group and stock of the earlier MP28.

This Airsoft SMG comes with a version 7 gearbox and reinforced gears, as well as a movable steel charging handle that also acts as the fire selector. This is an incredibly unique fire selector design that helps it work better in an Airsoft sense but also keeps it true to life as the MP41 had both semi and full automatic fire modes. If you need the perfect platform for a German-based loadout, the AGM MP41 is exactly what you need!

Description

The MP41 is the lesser-seen brother of the MP40. There were only about 26,000 models made, and they were issued mostly to police forces and some Waffen-SS units. Their production was then shut down due to political rivalry and an overlap with the MP40's production, which was favoured by the Wehrmacht.

Because of this, you don’t hear much about the MP41 these days - and you see it in action even less. It's a shame, really, as it is a gorgeous gun and much more attractive than the more successful MP40, but oh well, the Germans loved their efficiency and the MP41 clearly didn't cut the Mustard (or should we say Den Senf schneiden).

Let's start on the Airsoft platform now, and we must say, it is an impressive replica! It looks like something you would find in a museum rather than on an Airsoft website. The design matches the real MP41 perfectly, with no exterior compromises made to make it suitable for Airsoft; instead, the Airsoft requirements are cleverly disguised within the platform.

Starting at the front, you will find a muzzle device that matches the real platform, but hidden underneath, there is 14mm threading. The is both 14mm CW and CCW threading, one directly underneath the muzzle device and the other under the barrel extension that comes out from the front iron sight post. This allows a lot of customisation potential for the front end, and if you are particularly odd, you can even stick a tracer unit on the front end.

Moving rearwards, we reach the front sight of the MP41, which is a square front sight post surrounded by a protective hood. The hood protects the front sight in the event of a drop, avoiding potential damage to this vulnerable and essential part of the AEG. The front sight is the perfect size for Airsoft engagements, being wide enough for fast acquisition but fine enough that accurate shots can still be made.

This front sight pairs with the rear "notch" sight, which offers two selectable notches of different sizes, with the secondary notch being optimised for longer ranges. The rear sight is located midway along the receiver, giving the MP41 a long sight radius for better accuracy.

Moving rearwards, we come to the barrel nut, which connects the outer barrel to the receiver. On the left side, just behind the nut, we can find our front sling point, which can be set up in conjunction with the rear sling point the stock for a traditional MP41 replica sling. This is true to the real MP41 and shows that AGM have really put some thought into keeping this SMG true to the real thing.

Next up, we reach the upper receiver, which is designed to perfectly simulate the real MP41's stamped receiver construction. The magazine well is a separate piece that is bent over the top of the receiver around the ejection port. The top of the receiver includes the grooves and geometry of the real MP41 stamped receiver. This is a nice touch and keeps the MP41 faithful to the real thing, even on close inspection. The receiver is also constructed from steel, which is a great choice for both realism and strength.

The magazine release is located on the left side of the receiver, on the magazine well, and can be pressed with the support hand thumb during a reload. The surface of the release is textured to ensure you can press it in any weather condition, and is well placed considering that the MP41 was designed to be gripped by the magazine, or just behind.

The controls for the MP41 are simple but very unique; you might be asking, Where is the fire selector, Well, the charging handle is actually the selector! When it is pushed forward, the SMG is in 'Semi,' and when it is retracted, the AEG is in 'Fully Automatic'. This gives us Airsoft-worthy functionality but keeps the exterior faithful to the real MP41, how amazing is that! The trigger can be locked by putting the SMG into 'safe', using the push-through button just above the trigger.

With the fire selector retracted, you also gain access to the adjustable HOP-up of the MP41, which is controlled via a sliding lever and hidden behind the mock bolt carrier inside the mock ejection port. This allows you to adjust the amount of HOP applied to your BBs so you can get the flattest trajectory with your choice of BB weight.

The lower body is where things get fancy and much more classy than the standard classic MP40. An absolutely gorgeous real wood stock we have finger grooves so the MP41 can be held comfortably (the MP40 should be jealous!), followed by the semi-pistol grip stock. The stock is comfortable to hold, filling out the hand nicely and avoiding sharp corners, which can cause fatigue over long durations. The trigger guard is right where we would expect, constructed from alloy.

The real wood feels luxurious, with a smooth finish and gorgeous grain. This leads on to the alloy butt plate, which is also the battery access. To get to the mini-Tamiya connector, you must unscrew the bottom screw with a flat-head screwdriver. For this classic SMG, you can actually treat yourself to quite a large battery as there is enough room for a full-sized stick, making use of the full length of the stock.

We recommend a7.4v 1200mAh LiPo Stick Battery for a comfortable fit in this AEG, but you may be able to fit a bigger battery for more playtime. Internally, this MP41 has a version 7 gearbox with reinforced metal gears and an optimised piston head that features long-lasting durability and stable performance for long-lasting fun.

If you have always wanted a classic SMG but you enjoy the finer things in life, an MP41 is perfect for you. Based on a tried and tested SMG but with the inclusion of a much more luxurious stock, this SMG is the perfect fit for a Wehrmacht officer or something similar. It would also make an excellent display piece, looking nearly identical to the ones that were used in battle all those years ago!
