Now this one is an absolute Behemoth! The A&K PK Machine Gun AEG - Real Wood is no joke, weighing in at roughly 6.4kg, it's an authentic replica of the real steel rifle of Soviet origin. This AEG fires in only full auto, so you can lay waste to all those unfortunate enough to oppose you and still have enough ammo left in the 5000rnd magazine to last you until the end of eternity. It comes with a bipod included so you can get set up on the battlefield and lay down some serious suppressive firepower.

Everything about this machine gun replica makes it brilliant. The externals have been accurately modelled after the genuine Russian PK, featuring a lot of steel in its construction. The elegant look of the real wood stock and grip exquisitely contrast the otherwise full black externals, this creates some beautiful highlight points that are sure to catch the eyes of friends and foes alike.

The A&K PK Machine Gun AEG - Real Wood is perfect for military reenactors as the PK has been seen in many conflicts since the 1970s. Or maybe you just want one seriously big Airsoft support gun, either way, this Machine Gun definitely has you covered!

Full description

Description

The PK is a machine gun of Soviet origin. It was developed in the early 1960s by Mikhail Kalashnikov (creator of the iconic AK platform). It was designed to replace several types of older support guns in Soviet service with one reliable, versatile machine gun. The name PK stands for “Pulemyot Kalashnikova”, which is Russian for “Kalashnikov machine gun”, a very fitting and reputable name. Due to its reliability, firepower and lower weight than other available support guns, it became a very successful design. Over 1 million copies have been produced since its inception.

Although enhanced versions and variants were quickly produced as offspring from this machine gun, it is still one of the most iconic firearms in history and has been used in various conflicts since the 1970s such as the Vietnam War and the Afghan War. The PK is used as the standard squad automatic weapon of the Russian Army. Complement your late 1900s military loadout with an iconic machine gun to match and take charge on the battlefield.

Starting at the front of this larger-than-life machine gun we find a very long birdcage flash hider which matches the real steel equivalent almost perfectly. The flash hider, along with the other barrel, is constructed from alloy and if you fancy enhancing your PK the flash hider can be removed to reveal a 14mm CCW male threading, customise your machine gun with a muzzle attachment of your choice. Attach a tracer and fire 5000 BBs at the enemies nonstop, it sounds like a brilliant idea!

Just rearwards from the flash hider we come to the front iron sight which is also shaped realistically after the real Soviet PK. This is also constructed from alloy to match the full metal build of this PK powerhouse. There are protective wings on either side to protect the front iron sight from sustaining damage whilst storming the trenches in your skirmishes. It can be adjusted for elevation using a front sight adjustment tool.

Moving back from the iron sight, travelling down the lengthy alloy outer barrel, we come to the fluted portion of the outer barrel with the gas block and gas tube. The mock gas adjuster, found at the bottom of the gas block below the barrel, can be turned to select three different positions, this does not change how the AEG works but is a nice touch for authenticity. The fluted barrel serves to keep this replica true to its real steel brother.

The bipod is mounted to the gas block and can be clipped together to hold them in place and prevent them from swinging during movement. The legs can be folded and unfolded quickly by squeezing them together and using the clip to secure or release them. The bipod also allows for tilting the PK by a few degrees left and right, reducing the chances of the bipod restricting your ability to engage a moving target. Just behind where this bipod is mounted we can find a sling point on the left of the gas tube, pairing with the sling point on the rear of the stock and allowing you to carry this tremendous machine gun.

The fluted barrel and gas tube run parallel rearwards until we reach the carry handle and the unique rate of fire controls. The carry handle is constructed from steel and real wood just like the real PK's carry handle. On the real machine gun, this handle would allow the shooter to carry their PK without melting their hands on the extremely hot outer barrel after extended periods of shooting. The carry handle on this Airsoft replica can tilt to the left, allowing you to move it out of your way when using the iron sights. The supposed rate of fire controls are located on the underside of the gas tube, it features both buttons and a switch to adjust the rate of fire, however, in our testing, we did not notice a change worth shouting about, nonetheless, the option to experiment is there.

Finally, we reach the receiver. This full steel section is where a large proportion of the weight is located. Starting at the top, we find the rear iron sights. This sight works similarly to a standard AK tangent sight but is longer to provide additional graduation marks for the increased range of the long-barrelled PK, and also includes an adjustable open aperture which can be moved left to right without the need for tools. To adjust the rear sight for elevation, simply press the two textured buttons on either side of the sight, and move this piece to the position which corresponds with your chosen range. The sight is marked in 10s of meters, but this is mostly for realism and we recommend you experiment and find the best elevation that works for you.

The iron sight has an adjustable windage, to change it, simply pull outwards on the knurled drum on the right side of the sight notch, turn it anti-clockwise to adjust the notch to the left, and turn it clockwise to move the notch to the right. With the adjustment complete, release the drum and it will lock into place and secure your adjustment. The drum can be adjusted in increments of half a turn each time, making this sight easy to use and providing a level of precision that other machine guns don't!

The adjustable HOP-up of the PK is located inside the receiver at the front and can be accessed by lifting the receiver top cover and mock feed tray. Pressing the button on the rear of the receiver will release the top cover and it will spring open to reveal the gearbox. The HOP-up unit is a rotary design, meaning it should hold its setting well under the violent vibrations of full auto fire and can be adjusted in finer increments than the older gear-style adjuster designs. The unit is also constructed from alloy, guaranteeing that it will never break or fail during normal use.

On the right side of the receiver, we can see a mock bolt carrier, this is non-functional and purely for aesthetic purposes to keep this machine gun true to its real steel origin. The fire selector is found on the other side of the receiver and gives the user a choice of safe or full automatic. There is a 180-degree throw between these two options. The omission of a semi-auto feature keeps this replica functionally realistic as the Soviet PK used in wars did not feature a semi-automatic feature, it is all or nothing when it comes to this machine gun!

The wooden grip perfectly matches the one seen on the real steel PK. It is angled downwards for a comfortable grip whilst shooting from a lying down position, the ideal position for a support gunner. The trigger guard is extended, allowing for easy access to the trigger, even with a thick pair of gloves. The trigger of this PK is long and curved, it is easy to pull and hold for the times you need to provide your teammates with some colossal covering fire.

The magazine mounting lug is constructed from steel to ensure reliable feeding and the trigger guard. To load the included electric auto-winding box magazine, first, open the magazine by twisting the catch on the side which allows the top to open on a hinge, then, pour your BBs into the upper section and close the magazine up again. After it is loaded you can attach it to the bottom of the PK via a rock and lock attachment method, this is similar to an AK but is left to right instead of front to back.

Once the magazine is attached to your machine gun you can attach the two 3-pin connectors, this is crucial for powering the self-winding mechanism. The PK has a Deans style connector that protrudes out the right side of the receiver. The battery compartment is located in the magazine, there is a boxed-off section designed to house the battery. For the A&K PK Machine Gun AEG - Real Wood we recommend a 7.4V 1500mAh 20C LiPo Block Battery

Located on the bottom of the magazine there is a switch with three settings. The central position is the "off" position, pushing the switch towards the barrel activates sound control and moving it rearwards towards the shooter activates "auto-winding" mode. Sound control means the box magazine will automatically wind as it detects the M249 MK1 shooting, and auto-winding will constantly wind the magazine as long as the switch is in position. The automatic winding is great for getting the magazine ready to shoot and the sound control is the perfect setting to keep your magazine ready for shooting whilst skirmishing.

Moving to the back of the A&K PK Machine Gun AEG we reach the real wood stock. The skeletonized buttstock was manufactured from plywood laminates on the original Russian PK and the wooden stock on this Airsoft replica recreates the authentic look superbly. The skeletonised design reduces some weight from the rear of this machine gun slightly increasing the manoeuvrability when charging the foes on the battlefield. The butt plate is constructed from steel and features a sling point on the top, which is crucial for making this bulky PK easier to carry.

Internally, this A&K PK Machine Gun AEG has some super parts. It features a unique gearbox with fully reinforced parts, a quick change spring when removing the gearbox, reinforced steel18:1 gears mounted on 8mm ball bearing bushing, a double O-ring sealed CNC aluminium piston head and a harder HOP rubber. All these internals make for an extremely satisfying shooting experience with some accurate BB precision and enable long-lasting and continuous shooting sequences without the fear of burnouts or internal damage.

A superb replica of an iconic Russian military support machine gun, the A&K PK Machine Gun AEG - Real Wood is a beautiful platform that packs a vicious punch and has enough magazine capacity to last until the end of the world. Complete your Russian military or rebel-insurgent look with a support rifle to match the appearance.
